Written by myundu on October 2, 2010 – 11:59 am -

Pines always remind us of these things: the fragrance which is clean and refreshing, the pine cones, and of course Christmas trees. However, there is much more to pinewood than these things. When it comes to interior decorating, pine furniture enhances your home and this is one great option for you in terms of furniture pieces. This is durable, good-looking and absolutely of top quality.

For your living room, you can design it with pine cupboards, bookcases, a breakfront, and a table. Pine is made of neutral color, thus, it would just be easier for you to decorate the room with the color scheme you want.

In your bedroom, you can opt for pine cupboards or chest drawers for your clothes. Again, you can choose any color for your curtains, bedding, and soft furnishings since pine wood is a neutral color. For that perfect touch, you can place a great-looking are rug like Flokati rug, which adds a sense of warmth and luxury in your room.

Cabinets are the most important pieces in one’s kitchen. In terms of cabinets a lot of newly bought homes can be a great deal because of these pieces. However, simple wear and tear can easily break these cabinets. Wood Furniture For Your Home

Written by myundu on August 12, 2010 – 6:12 pm -

The use of wood these days in home interior is getting popular once more. With the many themes and décor interior these days, wood has always remained constant. These days you can still see a lot of traditional wood from cabinets, chairs, tables, and doors. You can always buy great wooden furniture depending on your budget.

Wood remained very popular for most homes because of its sophistication and class. You can choose from antique or modern, or a polished oak table that adds elegance and style to any living room.  In addition, wood furniture can blend in any color. You can mix wood with wallpaper, paint, curtains, sofas, and carpets- all with limitless color selection.

A good example of this mix and match pieces within your home is a long burgundy curtain in French-design, added with a beautiful teak set of furniture plus a velvet sofa in burgundy. You can top this design with any related rug that will blend beautifully with your interior. This design has a touch of sophistication and elegance.

Plant Chair

Written by admin on April 10, 2010 – 6:43 pm -

Chairs! So much design and thought goes into the design of new chairs! Really you would think we have enough of them to not warrant so much attention. But no designers continue to bring new ideas and thoughts to the humble chair every day.

This one recently caught my eye – not so much the shape but the structure. It looks like a tree or plant which is exactly what the designers had in mind (lucky huh).

The designers, French brothers Ronan and Erwan Bouroullec have won countless awards for their designs in recent years. And these stackable, indoor-outdoor vegetal chairs will no doubt be no exception.

The plant-like look is made of a dyed polyamide dyed and pushes technology to the limit. Whilst it is available in 6 different colors, I must say I’m quite partial to this green one – looks like a tree to me.

Wings for your Table

Written by admin on February 16, 2010 – 5:56 pm -

The Wing collection by Sara Szyber is a sleek design on the old ‘folding table’.

It’s big enough to cater for a dinner party of 6 and when that is done it converts into a convenient sideboard. So it is useful whether its folded out or not.

At $695 it might not be in everyone’s budget but it certainly is a classy looking unit. Available in white or black it’s designed with the contemporary home in mind.

It’s A Tree? It’s A BookShelf?

Written by admin on February 14, 2010 – 6:17 pm -

Russian designer  Maria Yasko has created a remarkable system of shelving.

As three-dimensional wall art they provide a functional storage space for books and other odds and ends AND look amazing. But could you disturb the feeling by actually using it? I don’t think I could.

Bookcase Design That Never Ends

Written by admin on January 5, 2010 – 6:24 pm -

This story never ends!

What a fun bookcase – Designed by Artist Job Koelewijn this work engages the viewer. His art is not the type to be looked at and not touched, he encourages interaction with his creations and with pieces like this it’s not surprising.

Now I wonder if my local library would consider this? much nicer than the cold metal bookcases they currently use :-)

Curved Book Case

Written by admin on October 31, 2009 – 6:28 pm -

These wonderful wooden bookshelves are designed by Sang Hoon Kim who describes himself as “designer + artist + engineer = ?“.

This shelf system is designed to be the centerpiece and offer an interesting take on the room divider.

The warped and twisted with unique curves look different from every angle – an amazing construction.
