“Chores for Bores”
Written by myundu on April 2, 2011 – 9:47 am -I hear that grumble every time I start reminding the kids about cleaning up their rooms. Although they do eventually get it done, I do have to hint at, if not threaten, a severe cut-back on the use of the computer and the internet.
If they didn’t want to listen to instructions from me, I told them, as I surveyed the mess in their rooms, they might as well make their internet time useful by searching for tidy-up tips for children’s bedrooms. With this parting shot, I made a dignified-back, grinning-face exit to the sound of “we’re not children!”
Getting your kids to do their chores can be very difficult especially when these involve cleaning up “their space.
I have come up with a competition for the coolest (no mention of cleanest there) room. The prize: An 8 hour stretch of weekend internet surfing, overriding the other siblings’ schedules.
The results should be interesting.

Princess Bedroom Theme For Your Little Girl
Written by myundu on November 23, 2010 – 3:28 pm -If your daughter has a large bedroom, you should utilize the space to create a bedroom fit for a princess. This method is especially useful in homes where there is no extra place for a game room. By simply utilizing one room for a lot of purposes, this is one great idea that every parent would love.
An obvious starting point when it comes to decorating your little’s girl’s room is the bed, which is often the largest piece of furniture in a room. First, assess the nature of the bed and ask: Is this what your daughter needs and would love to have? Also, consider the possibility of placing more beds in the room or a choice of one large bed that may be suitable for her and her friends whenever they sleep over.
Other significant furniture in the princess themed bedroom can be based on your girl’s age. If your daughter is still in its infancy, you may need a dresser or drawers for her clothes and a changing table. To save space and money, consider buying a low height drawer to make it a makeshift changing table for your little girl.

Child’s Bedroom Space-Saving Tips
Written by myundu on September 10, 2010 – 4:06 am -Little children can accumulate a lot of things over a year. If you do not invest on a place for their items, you will eventually have a lot of things to do. It is better to get space-saving features of your child’s bedroom. You can definitely save a lot of money by doing some simple decorating tips for your kid’s room.
If you have a small bedroom for your kid, a bunk bed would be great. You can redesign a bed that they can work and play below and then sleep above it. This is definitely a great space-saving tip for your kid’s room.
Another great idea is to buy a double deep double-sided bed like the captain’s bed. You can use the top for your kid’s sleeping area and have the underneath for storage. You can tuck everything in place and they can still be able to find their beds at night.
The most important thing you have to do is to find where everything should go and make sure that every corner would be used as much as possible. You can buy plastic crates and baskets that can hang up on walls for extra storage. You can put clothes in these baskets and make them reachable. You can also place these storage baskets outside their closet, which allows you to organize their closet and also help keep everything where they need it.

Fun Summer Decorating Project With Your Kids
Written by myundu on August 11, 2010 – 10:01 pm -Summer days are now here and this is also the time where your children spent most of their times at home. If you are a stay at home parent, it may be hard for you to think of other activities that will make your children enjoy their summer vacation at home. Luckily, one great deal you can do with your children is to start redecorating their bedroom.
Well, it is understandable that every home decorating is a bit expensive. However, you can still push through with this activity if you only stick to your budget. A few choices of children’s accessories and furniture would just be enough for your kid’s bedroom.
You can start painting your walls and let your children join in this activity too. This is a fun activity, especially when you let your children draw stencils over the walls. Their own work within the walls is one family moment that will last, uncovering your kid’s creativity.
If painting your walls is a bit expensive or too big of a project for you, you can opt for wall stickers instead. These stickers are great to covering any walls stains and unwanted marks.
A new rug is another nice addition to your kid’s bedroom. Area rugs are available in different colors, styles, and textures. You can opt for kid’s rugs like floral rugs, animal rugs and so on. Just make sure that these area rugs are suitable to your kids, especially concerning their safety.

Decorating Your Nursery
Written by mystyle on August 8, 2010 – 11:25 am -Times are hard and as much as possible we want to spend within our budget and still get the best result or service we can get. This holds true with home decorating, too. When decorating a baby’s room we want nothing but the best, however, sometimes our budget just wouldn’t allow us to buy new items. But resorting to frugal budget decorating does not have to mean getting the cheap look for our home.
Your best weapons are creativity and patience. Do not miss the chance of getting good pieces by visiting second-hand stores or signing up for online shopping newsletters to be the first to know when they have big sale week. Here you can get decors like area rugs for as low as $30 or sets of pillowcases for less than $20 of the original selling price.
Hand me down items are also good pieces you can use to decorate your home. Other people just love to redo the look of their interiors that buying new stuff is not a major concern to them. Chances are they end of giving away those other useful things they tend to replace. Your friends and relatives are usually good sources of these things.
And finally, rely on your creative juices, or you can browse magazines or books about home decorating to get ideas on how you can arrange your acquired assets to give your home the sassy look.

How To Create A Room Your Kids Will Love
Written by mandy on April 13, 2010 – 10:01 am -Children love to have a place they can call their own; a place that they can go to, not only to sleep but also to dream. Give your child a room that is designed to make all their dreams come true. Besides being a really fun project for you as well as your child, designing a child’s room is also a great way to spend some quality time together.
Compromise is key when designing a kid’s bedroom. While your son may want his room to look like a pirate’s hideaway and your daughter would rather be a mermaid and live in an underwater world, it may be neither affordable nor practical for you to implement these themes. Here are a few ways that you can design a kid’s room that will make all their dreams come true for years without breaking your bank balance.
Listen; Really Listen
It’s your kid’s room. Take time to listen to their ideas and really listen to what it is they want their room to look like. No point going with the jungle theme just because it is easier, when your son really dreams of being a race-car driver and your daughter wants her room to look like a fairy-tale castle. Preferences change and you may not want to go the whole hog to cater to their current favorites. Why not sit down and brainstorm some ideas. Think ahead and explore your options. While you may not agree to buy that bed which is in the shape of a car, you could perhaps agree to buy bed sheets, kids area rugs, wallpaper and posters that are designed with race cars and checkered flags. Lace curtains in soft baby pink and icy lavender along, shimmering satin sheets and a few sparkling wands is sure to turn your daughter’s room into the castle she always wanted.
Something Old; Something New
Make it a point to have at least one piece of furniture that will connect your child’s past, present and future. Whether it is something that belonged to you as a child or whether you buy something especially for your child, choose something with timeless appeal that will bear silent witness to their tears and triumphs and hold all their secrets through the growing years. Change the accent pieces and accessories as often or as seldom as is convenient, but let this remain as the bastion of your child’s room. No child would be opposed to this idea.
Let there be pillow fights
Get pillows; lots of them- in different shapes and sizes. While they may not all be used to sleep on they will come in very useful when looking for something for building a castle with or perhaps even a race track. Let their imagination run riot! And a good old rambunctious pillow fight is a great and safe way to let them expend all that extra energy.
Create space
Don’t use up valuable floor space. Kids need lots of room for hosting tea parties with their friends or doing cartwheels without getting hurt. Consider a fun kids area rug as a designated play area. Instead of getting two single beds, get a bunk bed or a trundle bed. Use the walls for storage. Build open shelves to display precious creations and closed cabinets for stacking away boxed toys. Get a study table with drawers for stashing away everyday items like books, pencils and other stationery. Drawers or baskets on wheels are great for storing toys. They can be rolled under the bed when not in use and easily rolled out when looking for a precious toy. Or else get colorful plastic boxes that look like blocks and can be easily stacked. They look good and save space!

Decorating Ideas for a Boy’s Bedroom
Written by mandy on March 23, 2010 – 5:53 am -What are little boys made of? Slugs and snails and puppy dog tails… Take your cue from this popular nursery rhyme when decorating a boy’s bedroom. Lots of bugs and slugs and things that go vroom are the mainstay of any boy’s bedroom.
Keep one eye on the present and one on the future when decorating your son’s bedroom. Boys outgrow the cute and cuddly stage overnight and will very soon be mortified to bring friends over to a room that is oh-so-cute and embarrassing.
A child’s bedroom is his sanctuary. It’s a place to daydream and make-believe in. It is important that a child’s bedroom should be a reflection of his personality. A racing aficionado would be delighted to have a bedroom full of race cars whereas a budding aviator would love to soar high with aircrafts flying off from the curtains, ceilings and every corner of the bedroom.
When decorating your son’s bedroom, take your cues and get your inspiration from his personality. There are plenty of great themes that can be used to make a boy’s bedroom a special one-of-a-kind space meant just for him. Make judicious choices when selecting furniture and accessories and look for stuff that can be adapted as your son grows or as his preferences change.
Water Baby Ahoy!
Whether you live along the coast or not, your water baby can still spend hours in a room full of boats and seashells and fish. Walls the color of the ocean, with a border of sail boats, colorful fishes or a variety of shells can bring the beach right into your home. Get a colorful surf-board and put it up on one wall. Find a blue kids area rug for the floor. Shells in an assortment of shapes and sizes are a versatile decorative element in any beach-themed room. If he is really passionate about fish, an aquarium and blue area rugs would be just right for completing this picture-perfect room.
Planes, Trains and Automobiles
There’s no dearth of choice, whether you are looking for wallpaper, fabric, boys area rugs, bedding or accessories that feature transportation themes of any kind. Mix and match bright colors and prints with a few solid colors that work together to complete the theme room. If aircrafts are a pet passion, hang a few airplanes from a blue ceiling and complete the décor with a few carefully assembled model aircrafts. A train track border around the room can provide hours of fun and games to any train-lover. Black-and-white checkered flags and a finish line are a must for a bedroom that belongs to a racing car enthusiast. A car shaped bed and a wall unit specially designed to proudly display that collection of mini race-cars could tie in all the racing elements.
Pirates, Cowboys and Knights
Which little boy has not at some time or the other dreamed of being a pirate, a cowboy or a knight? For a little wanna-be-pirate, a room full of portholes and ship masts, treasure chests and gold coins and plenty of secret hideaway places will provide hours of uninterrupted pleasure. A bedroom can easily be converted into a castle with ‘castle-walled’ wallpaper. Complement that with swords, shields, helmets and knight-themed murals (like this dragon fighting mural or this castle wall mural) .
Let your imagination run wild for a bedroom that is a cowboy’s domain- rope-bordered walls, tin stars and horses everywhere, bandana valances for the curtains and a big Stetson hanging on the wall. While you may want to pass on the guns a ‘Wanted Dead or Alive’ poster with your son’s face featured on it, will put the cowboy stamp on the room.
A Bug’s Life
From slugs and snails to bees and ants, little boys are often enthralled by these fascinating little creatures. Go with it and chose from a wide range of buggy bedding, pillow covers and curtains. A lady-bug photo frame or clock and a pair of snail book-ends would fit in perfectly with the theme.

KidCo Center Gateway
Written by admin on September 14, 2008 – 11:09 am -Unlike most of the metal safety gates on the market, the Center Gateway does not permanently attach to walls or banisters with hinges and screws. Instead, this 29.5-inch-high steel barrier uses a pressure-mounted system to hold it in place across doorways and halls in your house. Although it may lack the complete strength of a permanently mounted gate and probably shouldn’t be used in front of stairways, the Center Gateway is far more versatile: after installation you can easily detach and move it throughout your home to block off-limit rooms and spaces as needed. The Center Gateway also eliminates the need for drilling holes into the wood and metalwork around your home. The gateway is designed to block spaces from 29.25 to 37.5 inches wide, and you can purchase optional extension kits (sold separately) to extend the gate’s length to almost 49 inches. Adult assembly is required.
